XIII Peering Forum: Main Topics

  • Web measurements: Analytics and research of network connectivity, user access, and network resource distribution

It would be impossible to develop internet infrastructure in today’s world without analytics and research. As communication networks are upgraded and more and more services become available, various resources and solutions that often have different parameters have to be put in place. Only by conducting accurate measurements can we understand how to bring these resources together and distribute them. At the Peering Forum, researchers and experts will share their findings and discuss how to make web analytics more accurate and useful for companies.

  • Medialogistika

In September 2016, MSK-IX started a new project Medialogistics and launched a new service of TV signals exchange between content owners and broadcasters. Delegates from IPTV operators, OTT service providers and TV channels will get together at the Forum to find new ways of cooperation and to discuss the future of TV services.

  • Foreigners in Russia: Experience in offering solutions for the Russian market

Each year, foreign experts from a number of countries attend the Peering Forum to share experiences from back home. But what is it like to be a foreign player on the Russian market? What is the experience of foreign companies offering their services in Russia? Foreign specialists will share their views on working with Russian customers and implementing western (or eastern) practices in Russia.

  • What’s wrong with BGP and can it be fixed?

The fact that BGP still lacks a security foundation is a fundamental issue for the global internet infrastructure. The Route Leak anomaly is another issue that causes both global and local incidents almost daily and has a huge impact on how web services operate. In addition, no single operator can ensure the security of global infrastructure on its own. Delegates at the Peering Forum are invited to join the discussion on how to resolve this issue.

  • The peering landscape at the regional level

Regions across Russia are becoming increasingly active online, making regional markets a priority for many companies. For this reason, it is interesting to learn first-hand about the developments in cities across Russia, what their residents need and what will be the most popular and relevant services tomorrow. Delegates from across Russia will join the discussion on the regional landscape.
